Warren Buffett's
Lincoln Towncar Beneficiaries: Girls, Inc. Winning Bid: $73,200.00 Total Bids: 63 Page Views: Nearly 186,000
Challenge: Girls Inc. board member, Susie Buffett, arranged for the organization to sell her father’s much-publicized 2001 Lincoln Towncar. Girls Inc. had no experience with used vehicles let alone one with celebrity provenance. The Kompolt Factor: Having recently completed a joint auction with Home Depot of some three hundred doll houses created by Girls Inc. chapters nationwide, the organizaiton was already well-familiar with Kompolt. Serendipitously, Kompolt had also already auctioned three successive high-profile power lunches with Mr. Buffett benefitting Oakland’s famed Glide Foundation. A Coming Soon About Me Page [CSAMP] posted well ahead of the auction allowed not only for early Bidder Pre-Qualification [BPQ] but additional promotion. Result: Buffett himself abetted the already unique synergies by not only actively publicizing the auction—he posed with members of a local Girls Inc. chapter and appeared on CNN, devoted several minutes to the sale and Susie’s cause—but by tunring it into a full -blown “experience;” in the course of the auction, Buffett promised to don a chauffer’s cap while personally collecting the winner at the airport. As a result, Girls Inc. netted nearly three times the car’s Blue Book value. Brands: Girls Incorporated, Warren Buffett. |
